Cervical spondylosis is a general term for age – related wear and tear affecting the spinal discs or cushions between the neck vertebrae and the joints between the bones of the cervical spine. Over time these changes can press down on (compress) one or more of the nerve roots causing severe pain. Cervical spondylosisis very common and worsens with age.

Cervical radiculopathy (nerve root compression) and cervical myelopathy (spinal cord compression) are the two major dimensions in this problem. Cervical spondylosisis most commonly caused by degenerative changes also by injuries and malpositions. Clerical workers, computer operators, tailors, accountants and recently excessive mobile phone users are probably the victims. Pain management methods postural modifications, Physiotherapy methods also surgical correction are commonly used to manage this problem.

In siddha medicine, Cervical spondylosis is tamed as Sagana The symptoms are explained in the literatures like pain in the neck, back of head, scapular region and arms, vertigo, burning sensation of eyes.

It is caused due to poor dietary habits which increase the vatha dosham in the joints of the neck spine.

Medications which reduce the vatham and proper exercises to strengthen the neck muscles helps to relieve the trouble and suffering.
